The Faculty of Business at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Management position, with a focus on Human Resource Management (HRM), beginning July 1, 2022. This position is subject to budgetary approval.

The successful candidate will be a member of the faculty team and be expected to balance rigorous research activity, service contributions, and undergraduate- and graduate-level teaching. Preferred candidate for this appointment will hold a Ph.D. A record of excellence in research and teaching, or a demonstration of clear promise is required. Our current management (organizational behaviour (OB), HRM) faculty members have published in outlets such as the Academy of Management Learning & Education, Applied Psychology: An International Review, British Journal of Industrial Relations, Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations: A Journal of Economy and Society, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Personality and Individual Differences, and Personnel Psychology.

Candidates should be able to teach undergraduate courses in Human Resource Management and Organizational Behaviour, including specialized courses in our proposed HRM major. The UPEI Faculty of Business has emphasized evidence-based management in teaching and scholarship; candidates who can contribute to that focus are encouraged to apply. In addition, our Faculty values candidates with both strong academic qualifications and professional experience in an applied setting.

UPEI is recognized as a leading, innovative centre of excellence in learning, teaching, scholarship, and research. While it is strongly connected to the vibrant social and cultural environment of Prince Edward Island, it enjoys a reputation that extends far beyond the Island’s shores.

The University is in the provincial capital of Charlottetown, a bustling tourist destination that boasts the amenities of a much larger city, including excellent theatre, galleries, music, and dining possibilities. A province-wide hiking and biking trail runs right along the UPEI campus, and the National Park beaches and world-famous golf courses are a short drive away. Charlottetown and its surrounding communities offer charming housing options, a low crime rate, and a semi-rural lifestyle that is second-to-none.

Application Instructions:

Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research outline, and teaching dossier (e.g., teaching philosophy, teaching evaluations, previous syllabi). Candidates should also arrange for three letters of reference to be sent directly to the address below. Electronic submissions are encouraged.
