The Island Studies Program in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Prince Edward Island has an opening for a Sessional Instructor to teach IST-6150: Public Policy in Small Islands – Fall 2023. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

Please note: the course offered below will be taught in person, unless otherwise specified as an online course.

IST-6150 – Public Policy in Small Islands

This graduate course examines the determinants or causes of public policy in small-island jurisdictions. Students familiarize themselves with various models for understanding the causes of public policy and with selected frameworks for comparing policy across jurisdictions. 

Qualifications:

The successful applicant should have a Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline or area of study, preferably in Island Studies, or in a related discipline such as political science/studies and/or public administration. Those with a Master’s degree and at least two years of teaching experience would also be considered for the position. Demonstrated experience interacting with various levels of government, working in a university setting, and knowledge of the research process and of island studies is preferred.

Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster and full-time and term contract Faculty members of the Academic unit.
