The Applied Communication, Leadership, and Culture program is seeking Student Research Assistants to support the creation of an Open Educational Resource (OER) for ACLC 1080: Digital Literacy. Open Educational Resources make it possible for students to access quality learning materials at no cost to them, which helps reduce the overall economic burden of pursuing a postsecondary education. The Student Research Assistants will be supervised by Dr. David Hickey.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work remotely to help create content for modules on photography, videography, design, storytelling, and accessibility
  • Test out activities included in each chapter and offer feedback
  • Participate in the soft launch of the resource
  • Collect feedback from students and help revise the resource
  • Contribute to the process of ensuring the project meets accessibility guidelines

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferably an ACLC major who has already successfully completed ACLC 1080: Digital Literacy
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to collaborate with others
  • Enthusiasm for using various types of media to create rich content for online platforms
  • An appreciation for the integral role that writing plays in mixed media storytelling
  • An understanding of the relationship between accessibility and content development

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
