The Applied Communication, Leadership and Culture program is seeking a Student Research Assistant to support the creation of an Open Educational Resource (OER), the purpose of which is to provide guidance to undergraduate and graduate students who are designing posters for public presentations and academic conferences. Open Educational Resources make it possible for students to access quality learning materials at no cost to them, which helps reduce the overall economic burden of pursuing a postsecondary education. The Student Research Assistant will be supervised by Dr. David Hickey.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work remotely to create a set of well designed poster templates 
  • Perform research in the area of data visualization and knowledge translation
  • Write instructions to accompany each template
  • Collect and process feedback from presenters
  • Participate in the launch of the project

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An interest in visual design, knowledge translation, and data visualization
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to collaborate with others
  • Evidence of strong writing skills
  • Some experience using Adobe InDesign and/or Adobe Photoshop 
  • Sound presentation skills

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
