The Department of Biology at the University of Prince Edward Island has an opening for sessional instructors during the forthcoming Fall 2026 semester. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

Please note: the course offered below will be taught in person, unless otherwise specified as an online course.

BIO 4050-01 – Medical Biology

This course extends principles of biochemistry, physiology and molecular biology in the context of human diseases and treatment. Using a case-study and discussion format, the course explores advanced studies in biochemical pathways in humans, molecular regulation of biochemistry, human diseases related to altered biochemical pathways, and pharmacology.

PREREQUISITES: Biology 1310, 1320, and 1220 or 3260; Biology 2230 or 2240; and Biology 2250 or Chemistry 3530. Students in the BSc Paramedicine program may take Biology 4050 after Biology 1310. Three hours lectures per week

M/W/F 12:30 – 1:20 PM

Qualifications:

Successful applicants must hold a M.SC., Ph.D., or other degree that qualifies them to teach the course. Documented experience teaching is preferred.

Preference will be given to the qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster and full-time and term contract Faculty Members of the Academic unit.
