The Institute of Island Studies seeks a student researcher to undertake a literature review on Island Studies knowledge mobilization and assist with qualitative analysis of focus group interviews.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • With funding from the Canada Council, SSHRC and the Canadian Commission for UNESCO, Island Studies seeks a graduate student research assistant to undertake and synthesize the peer-reviewed and gray literature on knowledge mobilization on island studies topics, both in general and specific to Canadian island organizations.
  • The student will also facilitate several virtual focus groups of Canadian organizations and scholars and assist in summarizing the major themes that emerge from these focus groups.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational, oral and written communications skills.  
  • Possession of an Island Studies degree or enrolment in an Island Studies graduate degree program is required.
  • Experience in completing research projects that involve summarizing literature and analyzing qualitative data is also required. 
  • The student must be self-motivated and have experience working to deadlines.

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
