The Department of Music at the University of Prince Edward Island invites applications for a sessional instructor to teach a three-credit hour course (Music 4590) in the Psychology of Music Performance for the winter 2023 semester. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

MUS 4590 – Introduction to Topics in Performance Psychology 

This course is an introduction to pedagogy in the field of performance psychology, including topics researched and taught by Don Greene, Anders Ericsson, Noa Kageyama, Adina Mornell, Madeline Bruser, and Jeff Nelsen. In addition, it will explore practical strategies students can begin to employ, such as visualization, developing a pre-performance routine, practicing performing, and methods of deliberate practice.

Qualifications:

The successful applicant will hold a minimum of a Master’s Degree with significant research and experience in the Psychology of Performance.

Members of the Department of Music’s Sessional Roster will be given priority in consideration for this position.
