Summer 2023

The Faculty of Education at the University of Prince Edward Island has an opening for a sessional instructor to teach the following course in the Fall 2023. The offering of this course is conditional pending final enrolment numbers. This position is subject to final budgetary and administrative approval.

Please note: the course offered below will be taught in person, unless otherwise specified as an online course.

ED-4640-3 - Educating for Global Citizenship - 1 French section

This course introduces students to the visible and invisible impact of culture and society on education. As students develop an understanding of cultural and social perspectives in education, they examine the roles of schools in the proliferation of social and cultural norms as well as their potential as sites for change.

This course is offered in French online to students in our Bachelor of Education (français langue seconde) program from September 18 to December 6. The course will be a combination of asynchronous and synchronous classes. Synchronous classes will be scheduled for the first class, Week 6, and Week 10, at a time negotiated by the instructor and students.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will have a Masters of Education degree.  Successful candidates will normally have school-based experience in a Canadian public K-12 system.  For applicants without school-based experience, teaching in other contexts relevant and appropriate to the position will be considered. Applicants should have experience in teaching, research or practice related to the course content. Where courses are offered on-line using multi-media technologies, applicants will normally be able to demonstrate successful on-line teaching experience.

French positions in the Faculty of Education are delivered completely in French.  Instructors must be proficient in reading, writing, and oral interaction in French.  All class work will be assessed in French.

Qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Faculty of Education’s Sessional Roster and the Faculty’s full-time and term contract faculty members will be given priority.
