In support of the University’s teaching mission, UPEI is seeking a Teaching and Learning Centre Coordinator who will foster a culture of scholarship around teaching and learning that provides opportunities for instructional staff to reflect on and improve their pedagogical expertise and support instructional staff to meet their professional development goals. 

Reporting to the Vice President Academic and Research, this role works closely with the University Librarian, the E-Learning Office and the Senate Committee on the Enhancement of Teaching (SCENT), and other campus stakeholders to fulfill the University’s teaching mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordination, promotion, and communication of Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC) activities
  • Maintenance of the content on the TLC website
  • Coordinate and collaborate on the development and implementation of an Academic Instructional Skills Program
  • Assist in the development and delivery of training resources
  • Identify opportunities to promote teaching, learning and scholarship at UPEI
  • Coordinate and facilitate teaching and learning events/workshops on campus (eg. Let’s Talk Teaching), including the organization of guest speakers and experts as necessary
  • Coordinate the planning for onboarding new faculty, sessionals, and other instructional staff including the provision of a mentorship program
  • Collaborate with the Senate Committee on the Enhancement of Teaching (SCENT)
  • Consult with faculty on promotion and tenure/permanency files
  • Support the nomination process for teaching awards (internal and external)
  • Track and report metrics related to TLC activities
  • Conduct and summarize research related to the scholarship of teaching and learning

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Superior communication and collaboration skills
  • Completion of a masters level degree in education or related field, with preference for a doctoral level degree with related scholarship of teaching and learning expertise
  • Demonstrated creation of learning activities, workshops, assessments for adults
  • Teaching experience in face-to-face, blended, and online environments
  • Demonstrated ability to create, implement and report on events
  • Work within the higher education context
  • Expertise using Moodle LMS to support teaching and learning would be considered an asset
  • Demonstrated project management skills would be considered an asset
