The Department of Chemistry at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) is seeking highly qualified applicants for a Post-Doctoral Fellow Research Associate position under the direction of Marya Ahmed. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

The focus of this Post-Doctoral Fellow Research Associate appointment will be on development of peptide based polymeric biomaterials for drug delivery and cryopreservation and their analysis in vitro and in vivo in cancer models. Chemistry Department at University of Prince Edward Island is well-equipped with polymerization and peptide formulation techniques and analysis equipment including GPC, HPLC, and peptide synthesizer and has access to tissue culture laboratory.

The candidate will coordinate and implement research projects, will work towards future funding opportunities, will participate in data processing, analysis, report submission and presentation of results during meetings. The successful candidate will also collaborate with other group members on various projects and will be involved in manuscript writing.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Science with a major in Chemistry
  • PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry with Postdoc experience in Expertise in conducting bioassays (anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anticoagulant), performing PCR assays, microbiology techniques, animal handling and toxicological studies and in developing cryopreservation materials will be an asset
  • The candidate must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong writing and data analysis skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
