We are seeking an instructor to teach the following course within the Doctor of Psychology program. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

PSYC – 7101 – Foundations IV: Biological Bases of Behaviour

Students develop an appreciation of foundational theory and contemporary research in the neurobiological bases of behaviour, evaluated within the contexts of cultural and individual diversities, and in relation to competent clinical practice. Students assess major theories and models of the neurobiological bases of behaviour in light of current research. Students consider what is known about genetic influences on the development of clinical disorders and attention is paid to the methodologies for studying genetic transmission, as well as the complex interactions between genetic factors and the environment in the development of clinical problems. We explore what is known, and what is yet unknown, about the applicability of key concepts and findings across cultural and individual diversities. Students reflect upon the implications of theory and research in biological bases of behaviour for their own development as clinicians, and for the experiences of the clients they will serve. Three hours per week.
