The Department of Music at the University of Prince Edward Island invites applications for a sessional instructor to teach two (2) two-credit-hour courses in Conducting: MUS-4550 in the Fall 2023 semester; and MUS-4560 in the Winter 2024 semester. These positions are subject to final budgetary approval.

Please note: the courses offered below will be taught in person, unless otherwise specified as an online course.

MUS-4550 (Fall), MUS-4560 (Winter) - Conducting

This course involves the study of instrumental conducting with an emphasis on techniques and repertoire for instrumental ensembles and the modern wind band. It focuses on the development of basic conducting techniques through more advanced technical problems, as well as rehearsal techniques and score study.

Qualifications:

The successful applicant will hold a minimum of a master’s degree in music (specialization in conducting and/or music education preferred), with significant experience as an instrumental conductor at the high school and/or university level.

Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster and full-time and term contract Faculty members of the Academic unit.
