The Department of Religious Studies invites applications for a Sessional Instructor position teaching RS 2301 Korean Religions (course description below) in the Fall Term 2023. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

Please note: the course offered below will be taught in person, unless otherwise specified as an online course.

RS 2301 – Korean Religions (online, asynchronous)

This introductory course explores Korean religions by covering shamanism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Christianity, and new religions such as Cheondogyo and Won Buddhism. It utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to discuss their histories, beliefs, rituals, moral and philosophical doctrines, and institutional changes. We also consider each religion's influence on contemporary Korean culture and national identity. Three hours a week.

Qualifications:

Candidates should possess a PhD in Religious Studies or another relevant cognate discipline and have experience teaching in the area of Eastern religious traditions.

Note:  Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster and full-time and term contract Faculty members of the Academic unit.
