The Faculty of Education at the University of Prince Edward Island has openings for a sessional instructor to teach the following course in summer 2020.

ED-4570-2  INTERMEDIATE/SENIOR SOCIAL STUDIES II
This course develops a rationale, framework and procedures for facilitating thematic teaching and learning on critical social issues appropriate for grades 7-12. Skills in curriculum development are refined as students explore authentic assessment practices and ways of promoting student ownership of and co-responsibility for learning.

This is a three semester-hour course offered on campus* to the Intermediate/Senior cohort of our Bachelor of Education program, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30am to 11:20am from July 9 to August 12.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will have a Masters of Education degree.  Successful candidates will normally have school-based experience in a Canadian public K-12 system.  For applicants without school-based experience, teaching in other contexts relevant and appropriate to the position will be considered. Where courses are offered on-line using multi-media technologies, applicants will normally be able to demonstrate successful on-line teaching experience.  Candidates who do not have previous online teaching experience must be open to and willing to do extra training for this delivery model, and without additional compensation.

In addition, candidates applying to teach graduate courses will normally have established expertise, and successful leadership and/or teaching experience in a context related to the foci of the cohort.

Where applicable to a specific course, preference will be given to qualified candidates with professional designation or credentials in the field of study (eg, program evaluation, individualized assessment, etc.). In all instances, qualified applicants on the UPEI Sessional Roster of the Faculty of Education will be given priority.

THE OFFERING OF THESE COURSES IS CONDITIONAL PENDING FINAL ENROLMENT NUMBERS.   ALL SESSIONAL COURSES ARE SUBJECT TO THE FINAL BUDGETARY AND ADMINISTRATIVE APPROVAL.
