The Faculty of Arts at the University of Prince Edward Island invites applications for a sessional instructor in Island Studies in July 2022. The position is subject to final budgetary approval.

IST – 6220 – Theory and Practice of Island Research II

This course provides students with an opportunity to develop, integrate and apply their knowledge of island issues and theory in a specific focus area. Students will be involved in practical experiences with private, public, or non-governmental organizations that deal with island issues. In-class discussions and online forums build on the knowledge gained earlier in the program, including in the introductory practical experience course (IST-6210). Note this course is scheduled to be taught July 11-August 19, 2022.

Qualifications:

The successful applicant should have a minimum of a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline or area of study, preferably in Adult Education or a cognate field. Experience in developing and delivering experiential learning curricula and other materials is required.  Experience interacting with placement organizations, working in a university setting, knowledge of the research process and of island studies is preferred.

Members of the Faculty of Art’s Sessional Roster will be given priority in consideration for this position.
