The Faculty of Nursing, University of Prince Edward Island, has a sessional teaching opportunity in NURS 3250 Indigenous Health, Healing and Wellbeing in the Winter Semester of 2025-2026 academic year. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

Please note: the course offered below will take place at the Abegweit Healing Centre on Abegweit First Nation.


NURS 3250 - Indigenous Health, Healing and Wellbeing

Students will be introduced to historical and contemporary socio-political and policy determinants of Indigenous peoples' health in PEI and the wider context of Canada. Using anthropological, sociological and Indigenous cultural, experiential, and health lenses, students will develop an understanding of approaches to health and healing that resonate with Indigenous peoples.

Term: January 12 to April 30, 2026

Salary: $7,404.00 (3 credit course) per hour in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the University of Prince Edward Island Board of Governors and The University of Prince Edward Island Faculty Association Bargaining Unit #1

Start Date: January 5, 2026


Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have completed a doctoral degree or significant progress towards completion of a doctoral degree. Candidates applying for the position must be affiliated with the Abegweit Healing Centre and the Abegweit First Nation. Candidates applying must have expertise and/or teaching experience in a context related to the focus of the course. Previous experience in teaching is an asset.
