UPEI is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and strategic leader to serve as Director of Student Affairs.  Reporting to the Associate Vice-President (AVP) of Students and Registrar, the Director works closely with the AVP and the Student Affairs team as well as Deans, Directors, UPEI Student Union, and other University members. The Director provides strategic leadership and overall direction to the development and delivery of a range of Student Affairs programs and services that enhance the student experience including: Accessibility Services, Counselling and Psychological Services,  the UPEI Mawi’omi Indigenous Student Centre, Academic Advising and Success Programming, the UPEI Chaplaincy Centre, and Campus Life Programming. The Director of Student Affairs is also responsible for overseeing the Student Code of Conduct.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Director has leadership responsibility to create a culture of inclusion that embraces diversity and equity.  Your relevant and past experience has provided you with an understanding of current and emerging issues for post- secondary students.  You are a visionary leader and change manager who can successfully lead new initiatives, collaborate with other teams, and inspire a team of dedicated student-centred professionals.

You are well versed in trends and advancements in student service delivery and experienced in the development and implementation of services that support a diverse group of students.  You have demonstrated experience in mentoring both students and your team, with crisis management, and advocating for students’ rights and responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant field, preference will be given to a candidate with a Masters degree
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in post-secondary administration and service delivery
  • Experience with the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and initiatives that support students
  • Knowledge and ability to promote and contribute to a more open and diverse campus community
  • Strong record of serving underrepresented and/ or non-traditional communities and knowledge of their barriers to access to education
  • Expertise in cross-cultural communication and collaboration
  • Ability and confidence to empower others
  • Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility
  • Ability to champion a supportive learning environment that facilitates growth and development
  • Proven record of conflict resolution and ability to de-escalate highly charged situations
  • Ability to align goals and performance with the vision and strategic plan of UPEI Student Affairs and the University
