The Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering is seeking applications for Student Markers and Assistants for the Winter 2026 semester. The successful candidates will assist with course grading, provide in-person and/or virtual support to the design clinics, course labs, and various fabrication and assembly shops. 

Student Assistants may be needed in the following courses, depending on need and enrollment. Please include your course preferences in your application.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Student Markers: 

  • Assist the instructor with grading of assignments, tests and other materials as assigned 

Student Assistants - Labs: 

  • Provide pre-lab instruction and guidance to students for completion of undergraduate labs 
  • Work with the instructor and lab technician to ensure that all students are aware of and comply with safe laboratory procedures 
  • Assist instructor with student evaluation as required

Student Assistants - Design Course: 

  • Assist the instructor in supporting students in the various activities associated with the Design clinics 
  • Assist the instructor with grading of assignments and other materials as assigned 
  • Provide assistance and guidance to students regarding the design process, CAD, and fabrication in the shop

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a current UPEI student, with preference given to students enrolled in the Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering program 
  • Must have successfully completed the course for which the position applies or has demonstrated relevant alternative experience
  • Excellent academic performance will be an asset
  • Previous experience as a Student Marker, Lab Assistant, or Design Course Assistant will be an asset

Successful applicants are required to provide proof of completion for both the mandatory Teaching Assistant Training Program, WHMIS, and other relevant Lab Safety Training Courses within the first week of employment
