The Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development is seeking applications for a Student Assistant. Reporting to the Program Officer of Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development and the Director of the Centre d’excellence en français this position will perform various duties connected to our French Language Training Program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The student will be:

  • Attending training and orientation sessions
  • Providing accompaniment in French for synchronous online conversation classes for Professional Development in French
  • Providing accompaniments through one-on-one or group (up to 5 people) calls to provide enrolled learners in French for Professional Development with an individual learning path and monitor their progress
  • Following up with students to make appointments, responding to emails about booking using Calendly, checking in if a student didn't show up
  • Various other tasks and assist with other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferably third- or fourth-year student in French and/or have a strong background in French
  • Possess an appropriate level of proficiency in oral and written French, including a good knowledge of French grammar
  • Will be familiar with Blackboard Collaborate Ultra and Moodle
  • Will be familiar with the language learning application Babbel
  • Will be able to learn a 3rd party booking software, Calendly
  • Comfortable on the phone or in Blackboard Collaborate to host the session
  • Computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Moodle) are an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required
  • Reliability and dependability are a must

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
