Working as part of the ITSS Team, the Solutions Analyst will complement our campus wide, service- oriented department. The Solutions Analyst will be a key contributor to enterprise IT system deployment, operation, and optimization. This is a technical position, the person in it will contribute to the development and support of end user solutions, where solutions can be a combination of processes and software systems. The Solutions Analyst will work on the implementation and integration of solutions that support continuous improvement, workflow management and data gathering needs. They will assist with system implementations, integrations, and administration.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills and significant work experience. Recent graduates with very strong technical skills and at least two years of relevant work experience may be considered. This position may be eligible to work remotely part of the time, that will be dependent on assigned duties along with department requirements and will be reassessed periodically.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supporting operation of enterprise IT systems. Systems control activities with regards to configuration, data integration, data processing, job scheduling, and background process reporting
  • Maintaining existing portfolio of reports and analytical data tools along with their associated databases
  • Providing information that contributes to data-driven decision making by producing easy-to-understand audience appropriate reports
  • Translating functional requirements into technical design requirements
  • Developing, documenting, and making operational, solutions based on organizational needs and standards
  • Collaborating with analysts, designers, end users and business process owners in creating and testing of solutions related to administrative systems
  • Liaising with network administrators and software engineers to assist with design specifications, program logic, and data conversions
  • Analyzing business risk and recommending mitigation strategies
  • Maintaining data dictionaries for the control of new and/or additional data elements
  • Assisting in the evolution of data management policies and procedures with consistent emphasis on data security best practices
  • Monitoring emerging AI trends and best practices to assist with potential integrations into the university’s business processes
  • Performing other related tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems. An equivalent combination of education and technical work experience will be considered
  • Extensive experience writing SQL queries and experience with platforms such as SQL Server, MySQL, etc., is required
  • Proficiency with enterprise-level applications, including ERP, CRM, data warehouses, etc. 
  • Proficiency with a variety of report writing and ETL tools (e.g., Pentaho Suite, Microsoft Graph, Crystal Reports, or similar tools)
  • Proficiency with building data analytic dashboards
  • Proficiency with one or more programming languages and web-based solution development platforms (e.g. PHP, node, Vue.js, JSF, Python, JavaScript)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft enterprise platforms including Azure and/or Active Directory
  • Proficiency with scripting / automation (e.g. PowerShell, cron jobs, etc.)
  • Communication skills to clearly express ideas in an objective manner, and ability to adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience
  • Ability to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
  • Customer service skills are key

ASSETS:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 administration and with the Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, Forms)
  • Proficiency supporting operation of Microsoft 365 Teams & SharePoint systems
  • Proficiency with requirements gathering and business process mapping
  • Experience using Ellucian systems such as Colleague and CRM Recruit
  • Experience using Generative AI platforms such as Microsoft Copilot or ChatGPT
  • Experience with data classification, privacy, and security
  • Experience with project management
  • Experience working in an academic institution
