The Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development is seeking applications for the position of Student Assistant. Reporting to the Manager, this position will primarily focus on supporting e-learning initiatives, educational technologies, and technology-based projects within the office.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical support for online courses and e-learning platforms, including Moodle and related educational technologies.
  • Assist with the setup, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of online learning environments.
  • Support facilitators, and participants with technical issues related to online course delivery, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and other digital learning tools.
  • Create, organize, and update online course content and learning resources.
  • Assist with database maintenance, and other system administration tasks as required.
  • Support the collection, organization, and reporting of data related to programs and course activities.
  • Assist with technology projects, process improvements, and digital initiatives across the office.
  • Develop documentation, user guides, and training materials for staff and facilitators.
  • Perform system testing and quality assurance for software implementations and enhancements.
  • Provide general administrative and technical support to office staff.
  • Other duties as required to support the activities of the UPEI Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently enrolled in a Computer Science, or related degree program at UPEI.
  • Strong knowledge of computer systems, software applications, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Experience with learning management systems (Moodle preferred) and online collaboration tools is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with web technologies, databases, and programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, or SQL is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and provide professional customer service to staff, instructors, and learners.
  • Interest in educational technology, e-learning, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
