The Office of the Associate Vice-President of Students and Registrar requires a highly motivated and innovative individual to join our recruitment team. Reporting to the Associate Vice-President of Students and Registrar, the incumbent will work with an interdisciplinary team to deliver the supports and services required for the recruitment and retention of UPEI students.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work directly with senior management and stakeholder groups that influence and support students in their decisions about pursuing post-secondary education (i.e. Partner institutions, parents, other organizations, etc.)
  • Develop and conduct conversion-oriented activities within Canada, Internationally and digitally
  • Develop conversion strategies and follow-up initiatives to increase the conversion of inquiries and applicants to enrolled students 
  • Support the transition of incoming students to UPEI
  • Identify effective plans to increase the retention of enrolled students into higher years at UPEI through to graduation, with a focus on newly registered students
  • Provide admission and program information to a diverse range of prospective students and stakeholders, for the purposes of conversion and retention of newly admitted students
  • Support incoming first year UPEI students in their transition to university through coordinated academic advising and registration support
  • Work with and advise the University recruitment team and other on-campus stakeholders in the development and delivery of recruitment and retention initiatives (including promotional materials development, activities, events and other engagement strategies)
  • Manage and analyze data on prospects and current students
  • Develop reports for the recruitment team on campaigns; channel response, conversion, inquiries, etc. 
  • Assess response to campaigns and identify trends
  • Monitor responses to contacts and channels including email campaigns, recruitment fairs, website, messaging, etc.
  • Advise and support the recruitment team to improve efficiency
  • Create dashboards and KPI's from prospect interactions in the CRM and social media/web channels
  • Provide recommendations to enhance recruitment outcomes and build retention
  • Work as part of a team on the New Student Orientation and ongoing activities
  • Identify at risk students and implement strategies targeted specifically at these groups
  • Availability and willingness to travel regularly
  • Other duties as required

This Student Conversion and Retention Advisor position is pivotal to the development and delivery of the institution’s goals for student enrolment and vision for student success. As a member of the Office of the Associate Vice-President of Students and Registrar, the incumbent will be expected to contribute to the overall delivery of supports and services to the UPEI student population.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An undergraduate degree
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Experience working with the public in a professional setting
  • Experience with public speaking and a comfort speaking to diverse groups (such as students, parents, school principals, etc.)
  • A thorough understanding of the needs and expectations of first year university students, including what influences their decisions about choosing a postsecondary institution
  • Knowledge of University programs, student supports and student life, and demonstrated experiences in student conversion and retention activities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated initiative, excellent judgment, creativity and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience in using technology and social media platforms that support student engagement activities
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing data (particularly enrolment data) and working with data systems
  • Experience or training in Microsoft Dynamics CRM or CRM software in general would be considered an asset
