The Faculty of Education at the University of Prince Edward Island has openings for sessional instructors to teach the following courses in summer 2020.

ED-4150-3  THE DIVERSE AND INCLUSIVE CLASSROOM (French section)
This course explores student diversity and addressing the needs of a wide variety of learners within the context of inclusive education. Particular focus will be placed on the development of instructional strategies that support all learners.

This is a three semester-hour course offered on campus*.  Section 3 is offered in French to students in the Bachelor of Education (français langue seconde) program, Monday and Wednesday from 2:30pm to 5:20pm, from July 9 to August 12.  

 

ED-4540-3  PRIMARY/ELEMENTARY SOCIAL STUDIES (French section)
This course promotes dynamic teaching methods and inclusive approaches to inspire young learners and to elevate the quality of teaching and learning through Social Studies at the Primary/Elementary levels. Grounded in the needs of twenty-first century learners, this course offers concrete ways to create more vibrant, engaging, playful, supportive and inviting environments for this core curriculum area to give all learners dignity and honour their diverse ways of learning.

This is a three semester-hour course offered online in French to students in the Primary/Elementary cohort of our Bachelor of Education Program (français langue seconde), from June 3 to July 8, Mondays and Wednesdays, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.

 

ED-4740  TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION (French section)
This course provides an introduction to the integration of digital technologies into teaching and learning. The focus is on use of technology as a tool to support the school curriculum. Web-based communication and work with web-based resources is an essential component.

This is a one semester-hour course offered on campus* in French to students in Bachelor of Education (français langue seconde) program from July 24 to August 7, on Fridays from 8:30am to 11:20am.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will have a Masters of Education degree.  Successful candidates will normally have school-based experience in a Canadian public K-12 system.  For applicants without school-based experience, teaching in other contexts relevant and appropriate to the position will be considered. Where courses are offered on-line using multi-media technologies, applicants will normally be able to demonstrate successful on-line teaching experience.  Candidates who do not have previous online teaching experience must be open to and willing to do extra training for this delivery model, and without additional compensation.

In addition, candidates applying to teach graduate courses will normally have established expertise, and successful leadership and/or teaching experience in a context related to the foci of the cohort.

Where applicable to a specific course, preference will be given to qualified candidates with professional designation or credentials in the field of study (eg, program evaluation, individualized assessment, etc.). In all instances, qualified applicants on the UPEI Sessional Roster of the Faculty of Education will be given priority.

THE OFFERING OF THESE COURSES IS CONDITIONAL PENDING FINAL ENROLMENT NUMBERS.   ALL SESSIONAL COURSES ARE SUBJECT TO THE FINAL BUDGETARY AND ADMINISTRATIVE APPROVAL.
