The Department of Sociology and Anthropology is seeking an undergraduate Research Assistant for its research project, entitled “African Immigrants in PEI.” 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contact and schedule research participants for interview
  • Conduct interviews and facilitate focus group interviews with members of the African Immigrant Community
  • Transcribe audio-recorded interviews
  • Library search
  • Literature review
  • Analyze and code research data
  • Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current UPEI student
  • Field research/qualitative research methods courses
  • Strong familiarity with sociological and anthropological concepts
  • The ability to work independently and to perform tasks on short notice 
  • Good writing skill
  • Ability to critically review library and Internet sources
  • The ability to use the transcription software
  • Maturity and ability to exercise sound judgement

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
