Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, Human Resources, the successful candidate will focus on leading our employee-centered service unit, driving process improvement initiatives, and implementing transformative HR practices that empower our staff. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the development of policies and procedures that align with our organizational goals and will play a key role in shaping our organizational design to enhance operational effectiveness and employee satisfaction. QUALIFICATIONS:
The position requires the following qualifications and skills (demonstrated equivalencies will be consider):
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline such as Human Resources, Organizational Development, Labour Relations or Business Administration
- CPHR designation and postgraduate qualifications are preferred
- Professional Experience: A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role, ideally within the higher education sector or similarly complex organizations
- Strategic HR Management: Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing strategic HR initiatives that support organizational goals and enhance employee engagement
- Change Management: Proven track record in leading organizational change initiatives and process improvement efforts, emphasizing transformative HR practices
- Policy Development: Experience in developing and implementing HR policies and procedures that comply with legal standards and reflect best practices
- Organizational Design: Familiarity with organizational design principles and experience in assessing and restructuring organizational frameworks to maximize effectiveness
- Analytical Skills: Proficiency in using HR metrics and analytics to inform decision-making, assess organizational health, and measure program effectiveness
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills; ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders across all levels of the University
- Compliance Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and best practices related to HR management
- Cultural Competency: Experience fostering an inclusive workplace culture that values diversity and supports employees from various backgrounds
