The University of Prince Edward Island’s Island Studies Program has an opening for a Sessional Instructor for the Summer 2023 semester. All positions are subject to final budgetary approval.

Please note: this course offered below will be taught in person, unless otherwise specified as an online course.

IST 6220:  Theory and Practice of Island Research II

This course provides students with an opportunity to develop, integrate and apply their knowledge of island issues and theory in a specific focus area. Students will be involved in practical experiences with private, public, or non-governmental organizations that deal with island issues. In-class discussions and online forums build on the knowledge gained earlier in the program, including in the introductory practical experience course (IST-6210). Note this course is scheduled to be taught July 10-August 18, 2023.

Qualifications:

The successful applicant should have a minimum of a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline or area of study, preferably in Adult Education or a cognate field. Experience in developing and delivering experiential learning curricula and other materials is required.  Experience interacting with placement organizations, working in a university setting, knowledge of the research process and of island studies is preferred.

Note:  Members of the Faculty of Arts Sessional Roster will be given priority in consideration for this position.
