The GeoREACH lab in the Applied, Communications, Leadership & Culture program is seeking a Research Assistant to support research and data entry associated with mapping the history of Prince Edward Island. The Research Assistant will be supervised by Dr. Lisa Chilton. The GeoREACH lab supports Geospatial Research in Atlantic Canadian History and other projects of the ACLC program.  This particular research position is also undertaken in collaboration with faculty in the History Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct on-line and physical searches of library holdings
  • Organize research results in a database
  • Write document summaries for publication
  • Work with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferably either a History or ACLC major
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to quickly learn and master various computer applications
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Experience with GIS and with data management (spreadsheets) would be considered an asset
