We could use the support of some UPEI students to enhance our school lunch program.  We are encouraging students in grade four to take a leadership role with our milk program, as well as grade six students to take a leadership role with our hot meal program.  Students at both grade levels have the responsibility to read the take lists to follow the tasks that they do in both programs, but an adult is needed to provide support and guidance for these young leaders in training! The role of the mentor would be a wonderful way to engage the students in external partnerships with an outside organization such as UPEI.  The role would include helping the students sort milk and lunches into classroom bins, supervise the students with the delivery of the milk and lunches, as well as helping the students to follow the safety guidelines with milk and food safe handling practices.  We would like to have someone to carry out this role daily from 10:45-11:45, but we are very willing to accept help any day of the week during this busy lunch time!

If this UPEI student would like other volunteer duties after their lunch program mentor role ends, we could also use them in a kindergarten classroom setting to work on letter identification, letter sounds or even to just assist with connecting and mentoring a student to help build meaningful connections for our students.

Please note, a criminal record check would need to be attained. To get one for this volunteer opportunity, please stop by the office of the school to receive a letter to bring to Charlottetown City Police.
