The following update provides an overview of current progress on collective bargaining and the work underway at each table.

UPEI Faculty Association (UPEIFA)
Scheduled bargaining sessions with the UPEI Faculty Association (FA 1) on July 16 and 17 did not proceed because the Association cancelled. Cancellations can be expected in the normal course of bargaining. The University team continued its preparations during that time. Meetings with FA 1 proceeded on July 22, 23 and 24, and the University also met with the FA 2 bargaining team on July 20 and 21 as negotiations towards renewed collective agreements continued. While progress has been made, there remains a significant number of outstanding issues brought forward by each side. The parties are in the process of scheduling additional bargaining dates.

CUPE 1870
Consistent with our commitment to trust, transparency and shared accountability in labour relations, the University will offer virtual training for leaders on August 5, 2026, covering the recently negotiated changes to the CUPE 1870 Collective Agreement.

All supervisors, managers, and leaders who are responsible for employees covered by the CUPE 1870 Collective Agreement are expected to attend. The session will provide an overview of the negotiated changes and their practical application to help ensure leaders understand and consistently operate within the agreed-upon terms and conditions of the collective agreement.
