We are thrilled by the incredible response to the launch of Recognizing Remarkable Colleagues! Our first full month of program saw another 31 incredible submissions—each one highlighting the generosity, dedication, and positivity that make our University such a special place.

Because of this tremendous response, we will be sharing the submissions across three issues of the Campus Connector in October. Read the second set of submissions (organized in alphabetical order) below.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to share your stories and celebrate your colleagues. It is inspiring to see our community come together to shine a spotlight on the people who go above and beyond every day.

Submissions for next month are now open! Share your note of recognition by the last Friday of the month, and let’s continue celebrating the amazing colleagues who make our campus shine. Ashley McKenna, Facilities Management
She consistently goes above and beyond for everyone on campus. Even when it’s outside her job description, she steps in to help or find solutions—always with the goal of making things easier for others, including the HR team. She’s often here early, stays late, and brings an impressive level of dedication to everything she does. Prompt, reliable, flexible, proactive, efficient—the list goes on. On top of all that, she’s an absolute pleasure to work with. The Facilities Management department—and the campus community as a whole—are fortunate to have her, and I believe she deserves to be recognized for her outstanding contributions. - Heather Walsh

Martine McMillan, Administrative Assistant, Faculty of Science
Martine provides incredible support every day as an Administrative Assistant. She consistently goes above and beyond to make sure her co-workers have what they need to succeed. Whether it’s sharing her knowledge, offering a helping hand, or finding solutions. Her support and positive attitude truly make a difference!

Lyndsay Moffat, Faculty of Education
Lyndsay is a passionate and caring educator. She has dedicated her service and research to literacy on the Island and beyond through supporting in-school librarians, libraries, and learning commons spaces. Most recently she contributed to the Faculty of Education Literacy and Numeracy outreach project and also the launch of a new pilot course for in-school librarians which focuses on advocacy and holding space for libraries in schools.

Donald Moses, Robertson Library
Donald has recently retired and he is/was an amazing force of kindness, creativity and vision for all who worked under him and all who know him. He helped to make the Library a great and vibrant place to work and contributed to UPEI overall.

Alicia Muttart, Faculty of Indigenous Knowledge, Education and Applied Studies
From the date of her hire, Alicia has gone above and beyond voluntarily in her position. Her willingness and eagerness to engage, promote, and incorporate her vast knowledge with regard to Indigeneity amongst our campus community is inspiring. - Erin Reid

Faith Phillips, Alumni and Development Engagement
As the UPEI Alumni Engagement Coordinator, Faith continues to play an important role in fostering a strong sense of community among the University's alumni. She helps coordinate events, networking opportunities, and initiatives that connect graduates with each other and the University. Her efforts have helped strengthen alumni relations, enhance engagement, and promote opportunities for collaboration, ultimately benefiting both alumni and current students. By fostering a vibrant alumni network, she has contributed to the ongoing success and recognition of UPEI, helping to ensure that alumni continue to feel connected and invested in their alma mater. - Bruce Donaldson

Katy Proudfoot, Atlantic Veterinary College
Katy is incredibly giving to the students interested in animal welfare and those on the Animal Welfare team. - John VanLeeuwen

Dr. Charlie Pye, Atlantic Veterinary College
Dr. Pye is a dedicated, passionate, and wonderful colleague who consistently has a positive, cheerful attitude and who goes above and beyond to teach vet students about dermatology. Her personality lights up the room, and she is always helpful and approachable.  She genuinely cares about all her patients and the results speak for themselves when they are able to lead an itch-free life!

Jo (Johanna) Schneider, Writing Centre Coordinator, Student Affairs
Jo has taken on the WC coordinator role with passion and skill.  She mentored the students who edited and published the annual Arts Review, led them to a successful book launch event, and sold every last copy. The Writing Centre also had a fantastic display at the Back2School fair this fall, thanks to Jo and the tutors' creativity. Jo is an all around fabulous student mentor and UPEI employee who is committed to student success at UPEI.
