Difficult Dialogues: Personal Experiences of Transgendered People

This is a continuation of the Difficult Dialogues series that was started last year at UPEI. The topic for this event is transgendered persons and their life experiences. During this event people will have the opportunity to learn about what transgendered people have to go through on a daily basis. The schedule for the event can be found below. This event is an interactive event in the sense that those in attendance will have several opportunities to ask question that they may have about the material presented, as well as ask about the experiences some of the presenters have had. People do not have to speak or interact if they are not comfortable with the idea. They are more then welcome to come and talk to any of the presenters and panelists after the event. 5:30 - 5:35 Intro 5:35 - 5:45 Transgender 101 presentation (an introduction to understanding transgendered people and the language that is used when discussing them) 5:45 - 5:55 Getting Political (web article) 5:55 - 6:10 PEI Human Rights Commission presentation 6:10 - 6:30 Guest Speaker from NS (talking about his life and transition) 6:30 - 7:00 Transgender Panel (this is the main area where those in attendance will be able to ask questions. All members of the panel are openly transgendered) Reception to follow.
