On Tuesday, March 12, UPEI Environmental Studies will host an information session entitled "The Federal Government, the Environment, and You: The Enviromental Petitions Process." This information session will be led by David Willey from the Auditor General of Canada's office. The environmental petitions process was established by Parliament as a formal means for Canadians to bring their concerns about environmental issues to the attention of federal ministers and departments and to receive a response to their concerns. In addition to providing information to petitions, petitions have prompted such action by federal departments as follow-up on alleged violations, and changes or clarifications in policies and practices.
