Description: | Granted to a student entering the second year of the Accelerated Nursing program at UPEI and is in the greatest financial need. Preference will be given to a student who is normally resident in Prince Edward Island. |
Background: | Frank and Dawn Callaghan have a long history with Prince Edward Island's university. Dawn attended Prince of Wales College, and is an alumna of the PEI Hospital School of Nursing. Frank attended Saint Dunstan's University and completed his engineering degree at Nova Scotia Technical College as a mechanical engineer. He has had a long history of professional services on PEI and has been the consultant of choice for many architects and building owners on the Island and beyond. Kara, Frank and Dawn's daughter, is a graduate of UPEI's Accelerated Nursing program. In 2015, and in honour of the importance that UPEI and its former institutions have played in the Callaghan family's education and careers, Frank and Dawn decided to give back through the creation of an award supporting a student in the UPEI Accelerated Nursing program. In February 2019, the Callaghan's also decided to create an additional award to support UPEI students in the Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering. |
