|Background:||This award has been created to honour the lives of Kenneth and Evelyn Jenkins. Kenneth and Evelyn were both raised in farming families. It was this lifestyle and shared experience that brought them together. Kenneth continued in the family tradition overseeing a very successful mixed farm and having a strong belief in sustainable practices. As well, Kenneth branched out into real estate including a number of rental holdings. Evelyn had a long career in nursing and dedicated much of her time to community service. She plays an important role through volunteerism with the Trinity United Church, Women?s Institute, Canadian Red Cross, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and 4-H and continues to be involved as an active member of her alma mater, the Prince Edward Island Hospital School of Nursing. Both Kenneth and Evelyn were hard-working, and took pride in mentoring children in the community. This award is established by their daughter and son-in-law June and David Sanderson to honour the amazing difference June?s parents have made through family and the community.|
