Sam Kolahgar is Assistant Professor of Finance in the Faculty of Business. He presently teaches Corporate Finance, Integrated Cases in Finance, and Applied Investment Management. Dr. Kolahgar awarded his Ph.D. from Concordia University; holds an MBA degree from University of Northern Iowa, USA; an MSc in financial management from Shahid Beheshti University, Iran (where he ranked 10 out of 18,000 participants in national entrance exam for Master’s Program ), and a Bachelor of Business from Tehran University, Iran (where he ranked 810 out of approximately 500,000 participants in national entrance exam for Bachelor Programs). His studies in the fields of corporate finance, corporate governance, and corporate social responsibility has been published in leading journals and presented at national and international conferences. His work on investor relations and stakeholder communications has won a total of $45,000 in research awards. He is a member of finance associations such FMA, EFA, EFMA, SFA, ICGS, and WBF; and has multiple publications, conference proceedings and working papers in various areas of corporate finance and investment. Prior to joining UPEI, he taught Financial Management (Graduate-MBA), Theory of Finance, and Corporate Finance at Concordia University. He also conducted training courses in Valuation and Business Analysis at various SMEs. From 2005 to 2010, he served executives and board of directors of four national and international companies by assuming roles such as analyst (managerial accountant), senior analyst (venture capital and investments), and consultant (strategic corporate finance).
