Central Printing Service is closing it's doors
After many years, the Library had to make the difficult decision to close the Central Printing Service https://libraryupei.ca/cpo, which has historically operated from Robertson Library and provided printing, course pack production, poster printing, binding, and related services to university departments and the campus community.
Please note that this closure will not affect the PaperCut network printing: https://libraryupei.ca/printing.
These are the Island-based solutions that provide professional, high-quality printing, spiral binding, and other services. In fact, the library has frequently used these companies as a backup during our frequent equipment failures.

Submitting physical copies of theses to the library has no longer been required, as it has been replaced by an electronic deposit. However, if the department wishes to print copies for their own records, these are the solutions for hardback that we can recommend:
- Wallaceburg Bookbinding https://www.wbmbindery.com/ The most economical way to have a thesis bound is to send them an electronic file rather than a paper copy.
- Scotia Bookbinding. It only accepts already printed copies, not electronic files: https://scotiabookbinding.com/.
A key factor in this decision was the growing challenges of maintaining the existing printing infrastructure. In August, we were advised that service support could no longer be provided, leaving the operation without a viable maintenance option. In the current financial climate, no funds are available to replace it. The closure reflects the equipment’s obsolescence, the significant investment required to establish a replacement service, the increased availability of network printing technologies, and ongoing efforts to identify operational efficiencies across the institution.
The service will honour all printing requests received before Monday, September 21. However, it will not be able to serve as an intermediary to organise any binding.
