We invite you to view the sun through our telescopes while it's being partially eclipsed by the moon. In addition to seeing the moon blocking part of the sun, on the unblocked part of the sun you'll see sunspots on the photosphere, prominences in the chromosphere, and learn what those terms mean and how magnetic activity on the sun is causing them.

The viewing will happen today (August 1), 1:50-4:00pm, weather permitting. In the event of cloudy weather, we will have to cancel the event. We'll make the decision no later than 9:30am today, so check our website. We also have an additional solar viewing event later in August, just not on a day when there's an eclipse happening.
