Technology Tip Tuesday

Now that we can go on vacation again, remember to practice these travel tips to keep you cyber safe:
- Limit what you do on public Wi-Fi. If possible, don't log into accounts that have sensitive information like banking/email/CRA etc.
- Set your device settings to always ask permission before connecting to a Wi-Fi network.
- It is important to remember that laptops, phones and tablets should never be left unattended. Ensure your devices are always with you. If you are staying in a hotel, the best thing to do is lock them in a safe. If a safe is not available, lock them in your luggage.
- If you do work on holiday or really need to access your financial information on the road, make sure the systems you access use encryption. If you’re unsure if a website is encrypted, consider using a trusted virtual private network (VPN) or a personal/mobile hotspot for a more secure connection.
Happy travels.
