November is Diabetes Awareness Month; almost 900 people will be diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus on PEI this year.  There are more than 15,000 Islanders living with Diabetes now.  Diabetes is a chronic condition that results from the body’s inability to produce and/or use insulin sufficiently.  In the absence of insulin or sufficient amounts of insulin, blood glucose levels rise and if left can lead to serious health issues.

The UPEI Health and Wellness Centre has partnered with the Provincial Diabetes Program and is offering free glucose checks on November 22 from 09:00-11:30 am at the UPEI Health and Wellness Centre. Come and have a risk assessment completed.
