Rising Tides: Preparing for Climate Change

Our climate is changing on Prince Edward Island. Sea level is rising, temperatures are warming, and more rain and snow is falling. At risk are our coastlines, our drinking water, our natural environments, our communities, and our infrastructure. UPEI and the Department of Environment, Energy, and Forestry, through the Regional Adaptation Collaborative, will host a one-day session designed to engage practitioners working on climate change adaptation. The full-day session takes place April 29, 2011, in room 243 of UPEI's Don and Marion McDougall Hall. The day will be comprised of 20 minute presentations (including time for questions). Efforts will be made to allow equal time for academic, RAC, community and practitioners. The event will include nutrition breaks and lunch, and will be free. The overall theme of the session is “Preparing for Climate Change Adaptation.” Find out what local groups, communities, government departments and researchers are doing to prepare for climate change. Please register for this event by calling Glen Robertson at 569-7596 or gsrobertson@gov.pe.ca. Registration is FREE.
