NSO students conduct food drive for UPEI Campus Food Bank

On Thursday, September 8, UPEI students will go door to door in the Sherwood neighbourhood from 5–7 pm to collect non-perishable food for the UPEI Campus Food Bank.  

The food drive is part of UPEI’s annual New Student Orientation (NSO) Week to welcome new and returning students back to the campus. This is the first year that NSO has been held in-person since the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020.  

UPEI hosts Shad participants from across Canada in July

Fifty senior high school students from across Canada spent the month of July at UPEI, participating in Shad, a STEAM (science, technology, education, and mathematics) and entrepreneurship program offered at 18 university campuses across Canada. 

During their stay, the students took part in lectures, workshops, and labs covering a wide range of topics—from cryptography, exercise physiology, biomechanics, and One Health to astrobiology and moral philosophy, to name a few. They also got a taste of campus life by living in residence.

Institute of Island Studies hosts public lecture about islands and international law

The Institute of Island Studies at UPEI will host a public lecture titled “What’s Law Got To Do With It! Islands and their status in international law” on September 13 at 7 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge, SDU Main Building. 

Part of the Institute’s Island Lecture Series, the talk will be presented by Donald Rothwell, a professor of international law at the ANU College of Law, Australian National University, Canberra, Australia.

UPEI ready to welcome incoming students during New Student Orientation

The UPEI campus is bustling with activity as the campus community prepares to welcome incoming and returning students in-person.

For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020, New Student Orientation (NSO) is being held in-person on the campus. As of September 1, over 900 students had signed up for a fun-filled 12-day schedule full of great events and informative activities for incoming students.
