UPEI students encouraged to attend on-campus stem cell swabbing event February 7 and 8

Canadian Blood Services and the UPEI Student Union are encouraging students to attend a stem cell swabbing event on February 7 from 11:00 am–1:00 pm and February 8 from 12:00–2:00 pm at the W.A. Murphy Student Centre.

Members of the UPEI campus community between the ages of 17 to 35 can register to become a stem cell donor and potentially be a match for one of the nearly 1,000 Canadian patients waiting for a lifesaving stem cell transplant.

Teaching dossier workshop for Teaching and Educational Leadership Awards

This workshop is an opportunity for you to connect with peers to generate ideas for your teaching dossier, seek feedback, and have dedicated time to work on sections of your teaching dossier. We’ll spend some time focusing on strategies for developing your award dossier while reserving a large portion of work time for you to work on your own dossier.  

Atlantic Veterinary College launches social work support pilot project for clients and staff

In the hearts of many animal owners, pets are cherished members of the family. Recognizing this bond, the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) Veterinary Teaching Hospital at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) is providing complimentary short-term emotional support to assist clients in navigating difficult situations concerning their pets’ health. 

Black History Month Celebration at UPEI Basketball games

UPEI Athletics and Recreation will mark Black History Month on Saturday, February 3, during the UPEI Women’s and Men’s Basketball Panthers games against the Dalhousie University Tigers at 6:00 and 8:00 pm respectively at the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre. As part of the celebration, players will warm up in t-shirts designed by local designer Niki Adeogun. And Shura Hanna, president and director of communications with the UPEI Black Student Association, will speak about Black History Month.

UPEI Basketball Panthers mark Black History Month on February 3

February is Black History Month, a time to honour the Black community, learn about different cultures that have helped shape Canada, and celebrate the Black athletes, coaches, and staff who are engrained in UPEI’s history.

The UPEI Women’s and Men’s Basketball Panthers host the Dalhousie University Tigers on Saturday, February 3, at 6:00 and 8:00 pm respectively at the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre. UPEI Athletics and Recreation is excited to partner with the UPEI Black Student Association and local designer Niyi Adeogun to make this Saturday a night to remember.
