The Learning Resource Centre is seeking applicants for the Simulation Lab Assistant position. This position reports to the Simulation Coordinator at the Faculty of Nursing and will assist with setting up and maintaining the Learning Resource Center for Simulation-Based Learning.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Preparing and moving equipment between rooms
  • Stocking the room in preparation for simulation
  • Cleaning the simulation rooms in preparation for the next simulation session
  • Preparing and labelling simulated medication in preparation for simulated use
  • Provide weekly maintenance to the High-Fidelity Manikins and other equipment used for simulation (software updates, cleaning manikins, ensuring all equipment is functioning etc.)
  • Moving manikins based on the room that the simulation will occur
  • Create an ongoing inventory of simulation supplies
  • When new inventory arrives, place supplies in desired location
  • When time allows, assisting in tours of simulation space
  • Preparing Simulated Health Records
  • Other duties may be assigned by the Simulation coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • UPEI Student enrolled in the Nursing program
  • Strong clinical and psychomotor skills
  • Demonstrated critical thinking ability, initiative, good organizational skills, flexibility, ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to accurately follow instruction
  • Attention to detail are important skills in this position
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills is an asset

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
