The Department of Modern Languages has openings for up to 9 Student Laboratory Assistants to perform various duties connected with the Language Laboratory in French and in Spanish.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attending training and orientation sessions
  • Assisting professors in language lab learning activities for beginners and proctoring virtual lab work
  • With the aid of a marking template, scanning assignments to provide feedback of preliminary grade recommendations

QUALIFICATIONS:

For the French Labs:

  • Applicants normally will be third- or fourth-year students in French and/or have a strong background in French
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required
  • Reliability and dependability are a must

For the Spanish Labs:

  • Applicants normally will be third- or fourth-year students in Spanish and/or have a strong background in Spanish
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required
  • Reliability and dependability are a must

Please, note that only the hours effectively worked in the laboratory with students present will be remunerated.

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
