The Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development is seeking a Program Officer to provide operational support and oversight of a suite of continuing education/professional development certificate programs and courses.   
This position will work closely with the Manager in supporting the ongoing development and administration of the strategic recruitment of students and clients to UPEI’s Professional Development Programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, coordinate, and manage an annual calendar of non-credit programs and course offerings informed by community needs assessments, labour market trends, and emerging training opportunities; ensuring timelines, deliverables, budgets, and quality standards are achieved
  • Research and pursue alternative revenue opportunities, including contract proposals, partnerships, grants, and other funding initiatives, and prepare grant proposals in collaboration with the Business Officer
  • Identify, develop, and pursue opportunities for continuing education and professional development programming while collaborating with internal departments to foster partnerships both internally and externally
  • Collaborate with content experts to design and develop new programming aligned with adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and best practices in continuing education
  • Provide curriculum development and instructional design expertise in the creation and enhancement of programs and support facilitators and content experts in these areas
  • Guide and support facilitators and content experts on adult learning principles and effective practices for course delivery within the continuing education context
  • Develop, foster, and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients, facilitators, and partners
  • Support budgetary and financial activities of the office in collaboration with the Business Officer
  • Assist with tracking course registrations, revenues, and programming to support budgeting, reporting, and financial planning activities
  • Assist with the preparation, administration, and maintenance of facilitator contracts and related documentation
  • Maintain and update the office website and online calendar of courses, programs, and events
  • Coordinate and support the use of learning technologies and educational platforms (e.g., LMS and online learning tools) to support program delivery and participant engagement
  • Monitor and evaluate program quality, learner feedback, and program outcomes, and provide guidance and feedback to facilitators to support continuous improvement
  • Maintain policies, procedures, and operational practices to support the effective and efficient management of the office
  • Perform other related duties as required


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • We are seeking a candidate with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, or a related field
  • Minimum three years of experience in program development and delivery
  • Experience in adult education, instructional design, and/or curriculum development would be considered an asset
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; the cover letter and resume will be used to assess written communication ability
  • Superior organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities
  • Demonstrated proficiency with various forms of technology, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite products, advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skills, and systems such as Colleague, Moodle, 25Live, and myUPEI
  • Demonstrated experience working in a diverse and busy client service environment
  • Strong customer service orientation and attention to detail
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple competing priorities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability
