The School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences at the University of Prince Edward Island has an opening for sessional instructors during the forthcoming Fall 2026 semester. These positions are subject to final budgetary approval.

Please note: the courses offered below will be taught in person, unless otherwise specified as an online course.

STAT 1210 – Intro to Stats for the Life & Social Sciences

The main objective of this course is to introduce the basic concepts of descriptive statistics and statistical inference to students outside of SMCS. Topics include frequency distributions, descriptive statistics, rules of probability, discrete and continuous probability distributions, random sampling and sampling distributions, confidence intervals, one- and two-tail tests of hypotheses, and correlation and linear regression.

Three lecture hours per week.

Qualifications:

Successful applicants should hold a master's degree in Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science/Computational sciences or a related field, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience. Applicants should have experience in teaching, research, or industry practice related to the course content.
