Student Assistant (Up to 13 Positions) - Department of Physics - Faculty of Science - Winter 2027
$17.00 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay

The Physics Department seeks applications for student laboratory assistants for the winter 2027 term for Physics 1120, Physics 1220, as well as student tutorial assistants for Physics 1120.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the instructor to act as a general resource person for students during the undergraduate laboratories or tutorials
- Monitoring student operations conducting experiments and providing technical and guiding help when required during undergraduate laboratories
- Assist the instructor to ensure that students follow and comply with any provided safe laboratory procedures
- Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as applicable
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preference will be given to students taking Physics as their major or minor at UPEI
- Applicants will have successfully completed the course for which they are selected to assist within, or have relevant alternative university experience
- Previous experience as a laboratory assistant is an asset
- Excellent academic performance will be an asset
- Successful applicants are required to provide proof of completion of an online Teaching Assistant Training Program for lab assistants and UPEI WHMIS current training

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
