PA Level 9 - Solutions Analyst - Information Technology Systems and Services
$80,649 to $88,616 per annum, as per CUPE 1870
May 1, 2026 – April 30, 2028 (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding, and departmental requirements)
Working as part of the Information Technology Systems and Services (ITSS) Microsoft 365 Project Team, the Solution Analyst is a technical position assisting with system implementations, integrations, and administration of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. The Solution Analyst will work on the design and support of solutions that support continuous improvement, workflow, and data management needs. The ideal candidate will have technical skills and related work experience, recent graduates with very strong technical skills may be considered. This position is an on-campus position, there may be some flexibility to work remotely depending on assigned duties along with department requirements, but expectation is the successful candidate will primarily work on site
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Designing, documenting, and making operational, solutions based on organizational needs and standards
- Gathering and analyzing user requirements to then design functional specifications for solutions
- Develop workflows and processes to automate business operations
- Develop solution test plans and procedures for moving solutions into a production state while complying with internal change control policies
- In collaboration with the team, contribute to the development of Microsoft 365 best practices
- Work within ITSS development standards, cyber security policies, data privacy practices, governance frameworks and processes
- Analyze business risk and recommend mitigation strategies
- Supporting operation of enterprise Microsoft 365 ecosystem
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business Administration. An equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered
- Proficiency deploying and supporting operation of Microsoft 365 Teams & SharePoint systems
- Proficiency with designing and deploying solutions based upon Microsoft enterprise platforms including the Microsoft 365 suite of products, EntraID and Active Directory
- Experience with Microsoft 365 data management policies and procedures
- Communication skills, verbal and written, to clearly understand stakeholders and to express ideas in an objective manner. The ability to adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience
- Ability to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
- Customer service skills are required
- A commitment to continuous, self-directed learning
Assets:
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and the Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Teams Telephony
- Proficiency with PowerShell, especially as applied to the administration of Microsoft 365 environment and process automation
- Experience in data classification, privacy, and security
- Experience in requirements gathering and business process mapping
- Experience with project management practices
- Experience working in an academic institution
- Proficiency with one or more programming languages and web-based solution development platforms (e.g. PHP, node, Vue.js, JSF, Python, JavaScript)
- Experience writing SQL queries and experience with platforms like SQL Server, MySQL, etc.
- Knowledge of enterprise-level applications, including ERP, CRM, data warehouses, etc.
- Experience in report writing and data analytics, with ability to build operationally relevant dashboards
Working Environment
- Office environment, prolonged periods of sitting / keyboard usage / screen time
- Moderate walking. The position will engage with several stakeholders on campus, many meetings will be in person
- Typical day 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., due to the nature of some projects occasionally afterhours work will be required
