The Department of Music at the University of Prince Edward Island invites applications for a sessional instructor to teach the following course in the Fall 2018 semester (September – December 2018). This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

MUSIC 4220 Global Musics
This course explores traditional and contemporary musics from various world cultures—both the actual sounds of diverse musical traditions and the uses of and beliefs about music within those traditions. Part of each class involves listening to/performing music from various cultures. Students have the opportunity to investigate a specific musical culture in some depth.

Qualifications:
The successful applicant will have at least a Master’s degree in Music (Doctorate preferred), a background in ethnomusicology, and evidence of effective teaching at the university/college level.

Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster in the academic unit.
