The University of Prince Edward Island is seeking a motivated, organized, and out-going professional to be the main contact and support to students in the Co-operative Education Program. Reporting to the Director of Experiential Education and a key team member of the broader unit, the Co-op Student Coordinator coordinates workplace readiness professional development and supports co-op student success.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working closely with the Co-op Job Development Coordinator, the Co-op Student Coordinator will:
- Proactively promote the UPEI Co-operative Education program to students and ensure there is a clear understanding of the academic requirements and processes of the program as well as the work term expectationsCoordinate the student application, selection, and admission process
- Conduct on-campus promotion of the Co-operative Education program
- Advise and counsel a diverse population of students; respond to student inquiries; engage and support students; work with students to be successful in their job search
- Coordinate, adapt and deliver the professional development modules (COOP 2110, COOP 2120, COOP 3110, and COOP 4110) and ensure that they are regularly evaluated and revised
- Assess and develop professional development course materials and work term assignments in Moodle in accordance with best practices in work-integrated learning, including submitting final grades for the non-credit components
- Maintain the ORBIS database to ensure student data is accurate, current, and kept up to date
- Prepare reports including end of term summary report of student participation in the program
- Coordinate and promote student engagement and recognition events for Co-op, including the annual awards
- Support the work of the Co-op Job Development Coordinator where needed in areas such as job application and interview reviews
- Liaise regularly with the Academic Directors to ensure that students are fulfilling the academic requirements of the program
- Use feedback received from students to support the Co-op Job Development Coordinator in employer recruitment
- Support the expansion of the Co-operative Education Program to new disciplines on campus
- Participate in and support the activities of the broader department, where needed
- Ensure the Co-op program maintains accreditation standards set by CEWIL Canada
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A university degree in a relevant field (eg: Education, Counselling, Humanities); a Co-operative Education designation would be considered an asset
- A minimum of two years in a teaching, coaching, or mentoring role
- Demonstrated interpersonal and intercultural communication skills
- An understanding of and sensitivity to cross-cultural experiences and educational backgrounds
- Experience in managing a database, MS Office Tools, Google applications, and Moodle
- Experience with social media software and networking applications such as Canva, podcasts, LinkedIn and UPEI Connect
- Ability to apply an intercultural lens to student interactions, awareness of work culture in other countries, and experience working in a university environment would be considered an asset
- Experience in the career development field or human resources would be considered an asset
- Familiarity with experiential and work-integrated learning best practices for placements would be an asset
